History

The history of Forest River only dates back as far as 1996, when Peter Liegl first used assets from an RV manufacturer he was once CEO of to start his own company. In the beginning, they only focused on a handful of RV types for their complete list of products, including tent campers, travel trailers, fifth wheels, and park models. As the years went on though, their product line would expand in a number of ways.

The biggest series of changes the company saw was a number of acquisitions, one year after the other. Every time Forest River included another company in their family, the kinds of products they offered would expand into other speciality vehicle markets, like buses, motorhomes, and bathroom trailers. The acquired companies included US Cargo, Starcraft Bus, Glaval Bus, and Dynamax Corporation. Then, in 2005, Forest River became part of an even bigger company, Berkshire Hathaway Inc.
